Groundbreaking for Sunrise Gondola at Canyons Village

Park City Mountain is excited to announce its collaboration with CVMA on a transformative project to enhance guest experiences. The plan involves replacing the current Sunrise chairlift with a new 10-person gondola to facilitate better circulation and accessibility from Canyons Village to the Red Pine area.

Key features of the project include a 6,500-foot, 10-passenger gondola, with the base terminal strategically positioned near Pendry Park City and The Lift. The gondola will culminate in the Red Pine area, significantly improving the flow and movement within the Canyons Village base zone and ultimately reducing wait times for visitors.

This development signifies a substantial upgrade to guests' overall experience, allowing for quicker access to Canyons Village's snowy terrain. Anticipated benefits include a notable decrease in wait times, enhanced accessibility for lodging patrons and day visitors, and a more stable operation during inclement weather conditions. The alignment of the new gondola has been strategically designed to mitigate the impact of high winds, ensuring fewer weather-related disruptions within the Canyons Village base area.

The project is divided into three phases. Phase One, which involves planning and permitting, has been successfully completed. Phase Two will focus on utility relocations, infrastructure enhancements, and initial construction works, including establishing the lift corridor on the mountain. During Phase Three, the existing Sunrise chairlift will be removed, making way for the installation of terminals, towers, ropes, and cabins and the construction of the bottom terminal plaza.

This initiative represents a significant step towards improving accessibility, guest comfort, and operational efficiency at Park City Mountain. The introduction of the Sunrise Gondola is set to revolutionize the mountain access experience for all visitors, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable stay at one of Utah's premier winter destinations.
